This app was developed as part of a program of research on the condition of Specific Language Impairment (SLI), a language disorder that delays the mastery of language skills in children who have no hearing loss or other developmental delays. The research is funded by R01DC001803 and R42DC013749. The research did not study the validity of the screening for children speaking African American English (AAE). We express our appreciation for the participation of more than 1,000 people (children, siblings and parents) who have contributed to this longitudinal research project and to the dedicated research staff.
